Toti must sing at the school show. His knees wobble.
يجب أن يغنّي توتي في حفل المدرسة. ركبتاه ترتجفان.
Bilo says, “Smell a flower, blow a candle.” Breathe in, breathe out.
يقول بيلو: «شمّ الزهرة، انفخ الشمعة.» شهيق، زفير.
Toti looks at his friends in the front row. They wave.
ينظر توتي إلى أصدقائه في الصف الأول. يلوّحون له.
He sings the first note. It is small… then bigger… then BIG!
يغنّي النغمة الأولى. صغيرة… ثم أكبر… ثم كبيرة جداً!
Everybody claps and sings along. “Sing it with me!”
يصفّق الجميع ويغنّون معه. «غنّوا معي!»
“I was scared,” says Toti, “but I did it anyway!”
«كنت خائفاً،» يقول توتي، «لكنني فعلتها رغم ذلك!»
